Two New Family Members

Our family grew by two members this week. On Tuesday, we got a bunny. His name is Hopper (or Hoppy if you prefer--he doesn't answer to either). I realize the name is extremely original for a bunny--he's a second-hand pet, so don't look at me.
(Owen loves how soft the bunny feels.)

Then, today I got a little boy. Yes, I used to have a baby. His name was Owen and his dimples were the cutest things ever made (just like his sister's). He was such a sweet little baby, but his dad decided that he looked too girlish with his curls in the back, so he got his first haircut today and now I have a little boy. He looks so grown-up and everytime I see him I can't quite believe it's him.

I also didn't realize this, but apparently he can feel every cut the scissors make and he was not a fan. He screamed and flailed the entire time. He's lucky it turned out so good. Even chocolate didn't calm him down and that always works (he's a little bit like me in that respect).

A bunny and a boy!! Owen's hair cut is sooo cute! I almost didn't recognize him. I suppose he must take after his uncle Keith. Screaming bloody murder the entire time!

So how did you get talked into a bunny? I bet Ryanna is super excited! It looks really big.

He does look so grown up!!! Doesn't it make you sad? He makes a VERY cute little boy though! I love his hair cut!

Yes Owen looks a lot like you, especially with his new hair cut! My kids have been begging for a bunny but I don't think it would be safe with our cat and dog!

I didn't even recognize him with his haircut. Very handsome.

Cute haircut! Derrick got one the other day, too. He was cursed with full body like me, so he gets pretty rough looking fast. He, however, loves getting his hair cut. Make Owen will grow into it!

Oops, that last sentence should have started with Maybe. OK, now I feel better.

YOU DIDN'T!!!! I can't believe you guys cut Owen's hair..I know we talked about it but I seriously didn't think you would go the buzz cut look!!

AHHH! I love it....He does look so grown up! Can't wait to see him!

I love how grown up boys look after their first hair cut. I look back and wondered why I waited so long.

That bunny looks HUGE. I am interested in where you keep it. Is it litter box trained? How fun for the kids!

I hope you kept some of those beautiful curls.

Yes you do have a little boy! He looks totally grown up, but still adorable! That is fun you got a bunny. Watch out for the summer. Ours died/fried in the sun when I was a kid and it was really traumatic!

You're right, he hardly looks like the same child. But he's adorable either way. I don't think I would have the heart to give my baby boy a haircut if I had one. I can totally understand why my mom left my brothers' curls on as long as she possibly could with each one.

I thought it was quite clever of you to start out by saying that your family had grown by two. Whelp...now that you have a rabbit...you'll be able to announce that it's growing by leaps and bounds. Owen's haircut is the cutest!!! You have beautiful children.

I can't believe you gave in to cutting off those lucious curls :)He still looks DANG cute though - so grown up since we last saw him!

sorry, LUSCIOUS (I never proofread these things!)

Audrey. He what a difference. He is cute either way, but it really does change his little face. I'm sure it's been hard to get used to for the first little while.

he's such a cutie, and owen looks great too:)

I always find that transition a little sad too. There is a boy in our ward that just cut his hair after a long floppy do similar to Owens and it made me so sad. However new stages are always fun. I was surprised about the bunny, but what a great pet, I loved our rabbit when we had one.

Oh My goodness!!! I can't believe how much that haircut DID change him into a little boy. How cute is he! I remember cutting Wyatt's curls off. It almost makes you cry. And How fun to have a bunny!

Cute pics and that bunny is huge. I was a little scared by it.

P.S. Second hand pet is no excuse for an unimaginative name. We changed the name of all our pets. They don't know the difference. Except dogs and maybe cats.

Wow, that is really exciting! I'd love to know the story behind the bunny and what kind of habits it has. We had a few bunnies growing up and never quite got them trained. Owen looks so grown up and handsome. I still can't believe how much a haircut will change Lani's looks. Fun. Last timem I spoke with Derek he was very against the pet idea. What happened.

Oh I love bunnies! I am so jealous. Greg would have a heart attack if I ever got one. So I had to choose Greg over the bunny. It was kindof a hard choice . . .

It's funny your blog was about Owen being a little boy because the first thing I thought when I saw your blog (before I read it) I thought whoa Owen looks so big. He has alot of hair now, which I think makes him look older. What a cute little blondie! I just want one of my kids to be a blondie, that doesn't seem like too much to ask, does it?

Oh.. so cute.. Owen and the bunny. Owen is SO dang cute! He looks just like a petersen. And him nestled into hoppy makes my heart melt!

anyway.. congrats on the big step of the first hair cut!

The hair cut is great. Do you still nurse?I remember i couldn't cut Trevors hair until I stopped nursing. He was 11/2. I was a crazy mom. How is nursery going. Does owen come with you and run the roost? Pets are so wonderful for kids and families. Lets hear the complete story behind the adoption and the present state of affairs.Has Derek bonded with the bunny. Maybe if he was the one to rename it he would find a kinship with it. Where does it live? is it box trained? Give us the nitty gritty facts.

Holy massive bunny! Owen does look all grown up and completely studly. I don't think they make babies any more handsome than that!! Seriously. I am in love.

I can't believe how different Owen looks! So cute!

Love the haircut! We had to give Lincoln his first haircut at 5 months and I wasn't ready--but when we look back at pictures we should have done it sooner even if it did make him look like our "little man."
Fun pet--we have a Russian tortoise named Demitri. Natalie loves to feed him and watch him eat.
