Get the Huck-abee Outta Here!

I had extra energy today as I exercised because I turned on the TV to see California's results and realized that Romney had not won as I was hoping. So, thanks McCain and Huckabee for helping me to really get a good sweat this morning.

You know, I couldn't help but think that if Huckabee wasn't in this (and really he isn't a contender if he'd be honest with himself) how would the results have been different? Sure, he won some states in the South and he won the first state of Iowa, but get real, no one is going to vote for him. I started even thinking that Huckabee's wins must've really brightened John McCain's evening. Think about it, what's the best way for McCain to come out on top other than to divide the spoils among three contenders?

You know, I would not be one bit surprised to find out when the dust settles that McCain asked some of his supporters with deep pockets to fund Huckabee's bid. What better way to slice off voters who would potentially vote for Romney. Obviously I have no way to state with complete certainty that all of Huckabee's votes would fall to Romney, but couldn't enough of those votes gone his way to help him win more states?

I'm also sick, sick, sick of hearing about Romney's $35 million of his own toward his bid and how appauled the analysts are over this. Uh, ever heard of Ross Perot? That wasn't that long ago people. Get over it. It's not like he doesn't have supporters providing cash too. Moving on...

I am sorry, but I just don't think I can vote for McCain. I really didn't like what a pouty fit he threw in the debates against Romney. He acted liked a spoiled child up there.

You know, I really am beginning to think that the Republican party is starting to create our own John Kerry of this election. You remember good, ol' John Kerry don't you? The bazillionaire that was supposed to be the great hope of the democratic party--except he couldn't do it. All I'm saying is that this may be the year we elect a Democratic president. Please, let's just not make it Hillary.

I could never vote for John McCain. After living in Arizona and seeing his lack of desire to do anything effective for the state he was elected in. Well lets just say I have been totally turned off to John McCain. Especially after he pulled what he did in West Virginia yesterday. I have made up my mind. If John McCain and whoever he will run with (personally, I think he has promised Huckabee something) are chosen to be the republican representatives. And, lets say Barack is chosen to be the democratic rep, I will be forced to vote democrat!!! If Hillary is chosen for the dems and McCain for the republicans that is it! I will be moving to Europe, you are welcome to come. It will be a fun little four year vacation. Maybe we could all move to Italy and share a house or something.

Sigh.

I haven't been able to bring myself to blog about this topic because I am so stinking mad at America.

Can't. Stand. McCain. I couldn't stand being one of his constituents in AZ. I called his office several times about issues and always received a letter back that he had chosen to do the exact opposite of what I had called hoping he'd do. Not that he should always do what *I* want, but the votes he was placing were not very conservative, and not much in line with the Republican party. And I agree with your assessment of the way he acts: Like a spoiled child.

After what happened in WV yesterday, and McCain and Huckabee both admitted being in cahoots, and then today there being rumors of Huckabee being chosen as a running mate I just wanted to throw up. (Too bad I wasn't on a tread mill at the time...I could've done like you and gotten some good exercise!).

Ann Coulter said she'd vote for Hillary before she'd vote for McCain...and that right there is something super scary.

I am just going to hold out a little hope that maybe Mitt will make a huge comeback, that people will see the dirty politics going on with Huckabee and McCain, and that if he doesn't get enough delegates, that nobody will and it will be a brokered convention. Then I hope that the RNC has the sense to nominate Mitt Romney. Probably won't though. Sigh.

Anyway. Thanks for providing me a place to vent! :)

I agree with you, but there is something about Obama that I don't like either! I've stopped watching all the reports. It just makes me too mad!

Amen! I am so upset about it. If it's McCain against Clinton (really, what's the difference) I think we should all write in Mitt Romney.

I am so with you. Adam and I are actually having to consider voting for another party or doing a write-in this time around - there is no way I'm voting for McCain OR Huckabee. There's a great blurb by Ann Coulter about why, if McCain becomes the republican nominee, it would be better to vote Democratic!

Okay, just saw that someone else already mentioned the Ann Coulter thing - listen to it, it actually makes some sense!

I was just thinking the same thing myself last night. Get the "Huck" out of here Huckabee!

Jinx! OK, you can't really do that online, but this post and the resulting comments have been an echo of the thoughts in my head since yesterday. It certainly doesn't make me feel any better about McCain to see how all these AZ girls feel about him, either. I wish I could believe that all the anti-Romney sentiment from McCain and Huckabee had nothing to do with him being Mormon. Seriously, can any "big name" come out for Romney. All these so-called Republicans who keep endorsing McCain (Guilianni, Schwarzennegger) are just looking for a job in D.C. next year, which they won't really need to worry about, because McCain energizes the base in the wrong direction, thus it will be no contest for the dems, no matter who they nominate. OK, enough, whining isn't going to make a difference. At least CO went for Romney. BTW, am I the only one who has a distaste for the winner take all stuff? McCain has a commanding lead in delegates, but not because he's winning by a majority of votes, just more than Romney in states with big prizes. Grr. Now I'm done.

Gotta go look up Coulter now...

So here's the thing. I didn't vote. I'm having a hard time giving a good gosh-darn. Mitt is by far the most presidential of ANY of the candidates, either side, but the fact of the matter is that I don't especially like his politics or even agree with him all that often. Of course, I don't like just about ANYONE'S politics if they're not, say, Bill O'Reilly or Ann Coulter or Sean Hannity. And I don't always even agree with them.

Here's the bottom line, Aud; I think you're right. I think the president this year will be a Dem, and because of all the Bush-hatred the States and world-over, aint a single Repub who could win it. We as a people are sick of the Republican party. We want to give a Dem a chance to fix what Bush has supposedly unravelled, and no silent majority will step up this time, so the fact of the matter is, Hillary Clinton will shortly be our president.

And then Christ will come again, so hey, all you Mormons! Get your food storage together!!!

UGH! we don't want him! i seriously HATE THAT MAN! and he keeps whipping out these democratic view points! totally peeved beyond all reason!

I so agree! I hope that it is Barack, because I would have a hard time voting for Hillary (and an even harder time voting for McCain)

Your friends all comment on Democrats as if it's a plague. Can we still be friends if I'm a registered Democrat? Is Obama really that bad? He flies home from wherever he is in time to be home to put his kids to bed. I like that.

I think McCain is going to have that governor Crist from Florida running with him. Since Crist gave his endorsement, he's been showing up everywhere McCain is... like his man-slave. It's hard not to notice him as he has such an orange tan. He glows.

Whose responsibility is it to commit the president when he becomes senile? I think it's bound to happen if McCain is elected.

How can McCain be so ahead in the delegate count when it's obvious that people in his own party don't really like him or trust him...oh yeah- it's because of the "winner take all" thing. Seriously, if the delegates were divided more like the Democratic ones are, we would probably being seeing a much closer race, like the Clinton-Obama one.

I, too, pledge to not vote for McCain. But I'm really not too worried- it appears obvious that he will get the nomination, but there is no way he can beat a democrat this year- be it Clinton or Obama. "W" has ruined any chance of America electing another Republican president this time around. Now I'm not professing to be a Bush-hater. I'm just saying that a lot of Americans are, mostly because of the war. That really is a mess than any new president is going to have a tough time cleaning up.

Anyway, this election season has really been- if not annoying, then entertaining.

So Audrey- thanks for opening up this forum for people to vent about politics.

I heard earlier today that Romney is backing out. I knew he couldn't win the vote, but it's sad to see him leaving. He even said himself if you vote for Huckabee you are voting against me and for McCain. . .

I can't watch any more, but I can't help but look up results. . . one tangled web!

Thank you Audrey. I've been doing my part here in PA to convince everyone that McCain in scum and then Romney goes and back out. I'm so frustrated. I can't believe AZ went to McCain. Don't people ever learn? I thought perhaps Arizonans would be sick of him by now because they hate his immigration policies, but apparently that's not a big deal anymore since they've already taken that into their own hands. I'm don't know if I'm more frustrated with Arizonans McCain or Romney. I just wish he hadn't quit like that. Oh well, we'll be voting for Obama. Hopefully with the dems delegate divisions he'll stand a chance.

I always say we should respect our president regardless of whether we agree with everything they do. That is going to be extremely difficult for me if it's either McCain or Hillary since McCain is a moron and Hillary is evil!

Awesome post Audrey!! I am having such a hard time dealing with this whole thing. It is like I just broke up with a boyfriend I thought I was going to marry. How strange is that?? Now I am at a crossroads. I really don't want to vote for McCain because he is dirty and slimy and not at all conservative, but the fact that he has some repub roots makes him the lesser of the evils in my opinion, especially if his picks a conservative vp. Obama, while I like his demeanor a lot more, is way too liberal for me, which leaves Hillary, and I have a hard time thinking I could stomach her. It all sucks. I like the idea of writing in Romney. I feel like my brain is in a big fat knot that has absolutely zero possibility of getting resolved. Arrrhhhh.

I don't normally comment on these things, but I must say something: although I'm not a big McCain fan, the next President will probably appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices . . . who will shape constitutional law for the next 20 years or so. McCain, Hillary, or Obama, whoever is elected, will be long gone by then. The Court is one vote away from a solid conservative majority. And while McCain is not a solid conservative himself, he's much more likely to provide that vote than Hillary or Obama. There. I'm done.
