It May Be 106, But Summer's Over!

Yes, today marked the first day of first grade. A very exciting day for me and Ryanna. Although as of yesterday she couldn't decide if she was excited about it or not. She'd been telling everyone all summer that first grade was serious business because, "If you don't put your name on your paper, it goes straight to the trash!" So grown up, not like kindergarten at all.

I tried to get a gorgeous shot of her out with the green beauty that is my yard (who placed that nearly dead plant in my yard?), but the sun was a bit in her eyes and so I got some shots, but nothing that's going to change the world.

You know what will change the world though? Nine months of mobility and some carpet. That's right, we left our home a week and a half ago headed for cooler temperatures and family gatherings and came home with a completely mobile child. He's climbing everywhere and onto anything he can. Luckily, my kids come assembled with short legs, so he's not going up the stairs yet. He just crawls up to the first one and stands up next to it and slaps it with his hands as if to say, "Just wait, just wait!"

Yeah, its a good thing to learn that name on paper rule early.

How did the first day go for Ryanna? Do the boys miss having her gone all day?

First grade already! Wow! We get to wait until after labor day. The world's longest summer this year, going from a Utah schedule that starts mid=August, to the Michigan one.

She's gotten so big. And so has Eli. Tell them to stop growing so fast!

You do such a fabulous job of describing baby frustrations...I'm still giggling.

Congrats to Miss First Grader! (Tyler STILL asks if we can go play at "the 6 year-old girl's house with her and her brother.")

Ahh your kids are so cute!!!
But if only you were right, and Summer were truly over--the climate of summer, that is!!! Ryanna starting so early only means that half her school year will be in the depths of haites!! Good thing they can take water bottles for the first few months!!!
Hey we missed you guys, while you were enjoying cooler weather--especially Fina on Sunday!! Be sure and ask Sam about "Slimey Sam"!

Wow! You are becoming a pretty old mother! I thought first grade was really sad, and felt like I lost so much of my influence on my kids. It's amazing how it changes the dynamics of your home to have one away. Hope things are going well.
